Amy Poehler and Mike Schur Are Digging Up Something Good

The Parks and Recreation duo reunites for Dig, a new Peacock comedy with Hugh Laurie and an outstanding cast.
I loved, loved, LOVED Parks and Recreation, and I thought The Good Place was one of the most original and best television comedies to come out in years. So when I heard Amy Poehler and Mike Schur were getting back together for a new comedy, Dig, it was "literally" the best news I got all week. Their latest series premieres November 23 on Peacock, and this time they're taking us to an archaeological excavation in Greece, where four women discover a mysterious artifact that lands them in the middle of an international conspiracy.
Poehler plays Elise, an ambitious archaeologist looking to take over the excavation from her longtime boss, Neville, played by Hugh Laurie. I've always thought Poehler was fantastic, and getting Laurie involved makes this even more interesting. Maybe Hugh can bring a little House magic with him. The two are surrounded by Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas, and Fina Strazza, with Jason Mantzoukas, Max Greenfield, and Kayvan Novak making guest appearances.
The series is based on Kate Myers' novel Excavations, and the trouble starts when Elise and her colleagues decide to keep their potentially historic discovery a secret. I'm guessing that decision won't work out particularly well for anyone involved. The trailer looks like they're leaning into the ridiculousness that Parks and The Good Place pulled off so well.
All ten episodes arrive at once, which works out perfectly with the November 23 premiere. I've already got high expectations with these people involved, and I can't wait to see what they've put together. I'll be watching it over the Thanksgiving break when I'm not plotting the deaths of various relatives. It's not looking good for you this year, Grandma...
