Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Is Becoming Real. Naturally, They’re Testing Homicidal Animatronics in New Jersey.

By Peter David · August 10, 2026 · Cobra Kai Never Lies

Sure, New Jersey seems like the perfect place to test out homicidal animatronics. What could possibly go wrong?

For more than a decade, Five Nights at Freddy’s has been built around one very simple premise: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is a pretty terrible place to be.

Children disappear. Animatronics come alive. Night security guards spend their shifts trying not to get murdered. The restaurant has accumulated the kind of safety record that usually ends with a building being condemned and somebody appearing on Dateline.

So naturally, we’re opening one for real.

American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, has announced that the first permanent immersive Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant will open sometime in 2027. The attraction is being developed with ScottGames, and they’re not talking about throwing a Freddy statue next to a pizza counter and calling it a day. They want to build the actual Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza experience.

New Jersey had this shit coming to them for decades now.

This Is Actually Pretty Damn Elaborate

The plans sound legitimately impressive.

There’ll be a quick-service restaurant, an arcade and two separate animatronic stage shows. Freddy and the Fazbear Band will perform on the Main Stage, while Foxy gets his own show over at Pirate Cove. There are also planned multiplayer experiences inspired by the survival-horror gameplay of Five Nights at Freddy’s.

American Dream creative lead Atreyu Alcantar says the goal isn’t to make something that merely looks like the fictional restaurant.

“We’re not building a set that looks like Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza — we’re building Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.”

There are sentences that inspire confidence.

That is not one of them.

This is a franchise where the central survival strategy is essentially watch the security cameras, conserve electricity and pray the giant robot bear doesn’t reach your office.

Maybe aim for mostly Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

Keep the arcade. Keep the pizza. Keep Foxy. Maybe skip whatever part of the construction plans requires employees to crawl into a security room and desperately slam steel doors shut at midnight.

Could This Be... Good?

The beautiful thing about this idea is that America already looked at pizza, arcade games, screaming children and giant animatronic animals and decided that was a perfectly reasonable combination.

We called it Chuck E. Cheese.

Then somebody said, hell with it, let’s throw in some beer too.

And somehow somebody looked at that concept and thought, you know what would really pull this whole thing together? Survival horror.

I’m not even shitting on the idea. Quite the opposite.

If they actually pull this off the way they’re describing it, this could be incredible. Five Nights at Freddy’s is practically designed for something like this. Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is already a fully realized fictional location that millions of people recognize. Walking into a physical version of it and seeing Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy performing on actual stages has the potential to be one hell of an experience.

Especially if they commit to the creepy atmosphere instead of sanding everything down until it feels like another generic themed restaurant.

I just think opening the first one in New Jersey is fucking hilarious.

You’ve taken the Chuck E. Cheese formula, added a horror franchise centered around possessed animatronics murdering people, built multiplayer survival-horror experiences into it and then planted the whole thing in East Rutherford.

At some point you have to wonder whether this is a restaurant or the opening paragraph of a future Wikipedia entry titled “The Origin of a Disaster.”

There’s no specific opening date yet beyond 2027, so we’ve got some time before Freddy and the gang officially clock in.

I’m rooting for them.

But if those animatronics start walking around after closing time, nobody better act surprised.

You built Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza in New Jersey of all places. You knew the risks.
