Jensen Ackles Is Taking the Lead in Rules of Prey For MGM+

MGM+ has ordered Rules of Prey, a crime thriller starring Jensen Ackles as Lucas Davenport. The series starts with John Sandford’s first Prey novel, and Ackles will also executive produce.

Davenport is a former Minneapolis detective whose methods pushed him out of the department. Now a series of murders pulls him back into an investigation that appears to be aimed directly at him. In Sandford’s book, the killer follows a set of rules meant to keep him from getting caught. That turns the case into a contest between two people who think they’re the smartest one in the room.

Bruce Terris created the series and serves as showrunner. Daniel Sackheim is directing the first two episodes. MGM+ hasn’t announced a premiere date yet.

I’ve watched every episode of Supernatural a few times, so I’m pretty excited about Ackles’ casting. He was fantastic as Soldier Boy in The Boys, and I can’t wait to see him return in Vought Rising. He’s got that leading man energy. He headlined Countdown after Supernatural, and now Rules of Prey puts him front and center again. Davenport sounds like a role that could give him plenty to work with. Would it be too much to have him drive an Impala?
