Marvel's Incursions Brings Five Worlds Colliding Stories, Including an X-Men Animated Series Crossover

Marvel is doubling down on Incursions by announcing five new Incursions one-shots and bringing together characters from different corners of its multiverse for a series of confrontations where the stakes couldn't be much higher. The lineup includes Spider-Gwen versus Spider-Girl, two very different versions of the Fantastic Four and Bruce Banner, and the original Avengers facing Thanos and the Cabal. There's also a meeting between the X-Men of Days of Future Past and House of M, which sounds like a particularly shitty day for mutantkind.

The comics take place during the events leading up to 2015's Secret Wars, when entire universes were being wiped out by incursions. The idea is simple enough: Two Earths appear in the same space, and unless one is destroyed, both universes are lost. That leaves the heroes with a choice nobody should have to make, especially when the people on the other Earth are just as determined to survive.

Marvel's announced matchups cover decades of comics and animation, but the one that immediately stands out is X-Men '92: Incursions. After all these years, the team from the original animated series is finally going to meet the X-Men from Evolution, and Marvel isn't exactly arranging a meet cute.

The X-Men from the original 1992 animated series are finally meeting their younger counterparts from X-Men: Evolution, the show that reimagined many of Marvel's mutants as teenagers navigating high school alongside their superhero responsibilities. Now the two teams have a much bigger problem than comparing notes about their respective versions of Wolverine. The original X-Men need to save their universe, but doing so could mean destroying the world inhabited by the younger team. Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, who both worked on X-Men: Evolution, are writing the issue, with artwork by Salva Espin and a cover by Luciano Vecchio.

Which World Gets to Survive?

The five Incursions one-shots arrive between November 18, 2026, and January 20, 2027, with each issue also receiving a mirror-variant cover.

I’m looking forward to seeing how these five stories play out, especially the meeting between the two animated X-Men teams. The covers already give us a look at what happens when these different versions of familiar characters come face-to-face, and I’m curious to see what Marvel does with them once the fighting starts. This seems like the perfect way to hammer home how devastating these incursions can be after we witness them in Doomsday. I got $5 on the '97 team.
