NY COMIC CON: DEFENDERS, ZODIAC AND MARVEL ZOMBIES, OH MY!

Marvel Television and Marvel Animation had plenty to talk about at New York Comic Con, giving us a long-awaited reunion, a brand-new series, and three more reasons to keep Disney+ around for a few more Halloweens.

THE DEFENDERS ARE BACK TOGETHER

Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, and Finn Jones reunited onstage to announce that the original Defenders will be together again for the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again. Mike Colter couldn't attend the convention, but he'll also be returning as Luke Cage, joining Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist for one last round.

Ritter returned during Season 2, and Colter made an appearance in the finale, leaving Jones as the missing piece. With all four now confirmed, the gang is officially back together. This seems like a hell of a way to send the series out strong before it goes away again. Thanks Disney+!

Daredevil: Born Again Will End With Season 3 — And That’s Way Too Soon

There's also some news behind the cameras. Showrunner Dario Scardapane, who helped oversee the series following its creative overhaul, has parted ways with Marvel while the final season is in post-production. The circumstances surrounding his departure are still in the ether.

WHAT THE HELL IS ZODIAC?

Marvel also announced Zodiac, a new live-action spy thriller coming to Disney+ in 2028. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel's head of television and animation, revealed the project at the convention, with production expected to begin in London next spring.

Beyond that, Marvel isn't saying much. The name has a history in the comics, where Zodiac is associated with a criminal organization whose members are named after the signs of the zodiac. Whether the series will follow that particular story hasn't been confirmed. For now, we have a title, a logo, and theories. My favorite is it's a sequel series to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

MARVEL ZOMBIES ISN'T DEAD YET

You didn't think Marvel was going to let a little thing like death stop the zombies, did you? Marvel Animation announced three additional Marvel Zombies specials, each arriving on Disney+ just in time for Halloween over the next three years.

First up is Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier in 2027, followed by Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu in 2028 and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian in 2029. The titles offer some clues about where these stories might be headed, particularly with Moon Knight and the Guardians of the Galaxy, although Marvel is keeping the details under wraps.

So we've got the Defenders back together, a new spy thriller on the way, and enough Marvel zombies to keep Halloween occupied through 2029. Marvel certainly gave us plenty to talk about at New York Comic Con, and now we've got a few more dates to circle on the calendar.
